Look At Jesus

Hebrews 12:1, 2 - Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

I. Look To Jesus For Everything
John 14:13  13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. (It’s about His glory, not ours)  14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. (Most times we ask amiss. Outside of God’s Will)  15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.(His Word) 16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; 17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.

A. Sometimes we Christians don’t rely and depend on the Lord to supply all of our needs.
*We rely on self-effort and other people. (Which brings Disappointment, Frustration, and Discouragement)
B. We should look to Jesus for: Life / Love / Food / Clothing / Shelter /   =>  In Everything!
C. Philippians 4:19 –  But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Psalms 37:25 –  I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.

II. Look To Jesus In Everything
Acts 17:28 -  For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

A. Many Christians are ready to look to Jesus when trouble comes, but when everything is going well, they lean on their own strength and fail.
B. We need to look to Jesus in everything – In the good times as well as the bad / In Joyful times as well as in sorrow / On mountain tops or valleys below / Victorious times and in trials!
C. Hebrews 4:16 -  Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

III. Look To Jesus With Everything
1 Thessalonians 5:23 - And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless (By the blood) unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A. Some Christians fail to totally look to Jesus – We reserve a portion of our lives to ourselves. (Following our Will)
B. If we are to be victorious – We need to look to Jesus WITH everything… Our Time / Our Work / Our Talent / Our Family / Our Treasures… not just our money but our desires.
C. Paul urged us: Romans 12:1 – I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Remember the praise song…
We bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord. We bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the Lord.
And we offer up to You the sacrifices of thanksgiving. And we offer up to You the sacrifices of joy.
What a mighty God we serve. What a mighty God we serve. Angels bow before Him, heaven and earth adore Him.
What a mighty God we serve.
