An elderly lady said “Oh Lord have mercy.” HE DOES!

Mercy (definition) Hebrew word – love, kindness, mercy, faithfulness.

God’s love flows like a river that never runs out!


Psalms 136 – (I read, they read.)


Psalms 69:16 – Hear me, O Lord, for Your loving kindness is good; Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies.


Psalms 69:1-4; 13-16


  1. God’s Mercy Reaches UpwardPsalm 103:11 – For as the heaven is high above the earth, so Great is His Mercy toward them that Fear Him.  As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.

1.1.   God’s mercy reaches upward to the rich, proud, big headed, high minded.

1.2.   Reaches beyond outer space.  All who humble themselves and accept Christ as Savior and Lord will be saved.

1.3.   Bible says – Psalms 136:26 – O give thanks to God of Heaven; for His Mercy endures Forever.


  1. God’s Mercy Reaches DownwardPsalms 136:23 – Who remembered us in our low state, For His mercy endures forever.

2.1.   God’s mercy is great, it reaches downward to the:  discouraged, distressed, depressed, lonely, abandoned, abused, hopeless, sad of heart.

2.2.   God’s mercy reaches up to the proud and haughty and down to the lowest, setting them on the same level, when they become one in CHRIST.


  1. God’s Mercy Reaches InwardPsalms 119:76, 77 – Let, I pray, Your merciful kindness be for my comfort, according to Your word to Your servant.  Let your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; for Your law (word) is my delight.

3.1.   God’s tender mercy reaches inward to the Heart, Mind, and Soul.  It brings comfort.

3.2.   God’s mercy fills us with compassion and love.  It heals the broken hearted.  The Bible describes mercy as:Great, Sure, Abundant, Tender, New Every Morning, Salvation Given, Forgiveness Given, A Gift, A Reason for Hope.

3.3.      Titus 3:5, 6 – “…not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out on us through Jesus Christ our Savior,…”


  1. God’s Mercy Reaches OutwardPsalms 119:64 – The earth, O Lord, is full of Your mercy; teach me Your statutes. (God’s law and Jesus’ ways)

4.1.   God’s mercy reaches outward to the whole world:  rich, poor, young, old, black, white, great, small.

4.2.   All who repent of their sins and believe in Christ may (will) be saved.

4.3.   Ephesians 2:4 – “But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which  He loved us…”

4.4.   John 3:16 – For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
